What is CrossFit?

CrossFit 的定義為:「在多變化的模式下,以高強度執行的功能性動作 (Constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity)。」

所有 CrossFit 的訓練課表皆以功能性動作為基礎,這些動作結合了體操、舉重、跑步、划船等項目的精髓。它們是生活中的核心動作,能以最長的距離移動最大的負荷,因此最能在最短的時間內將「功 (Work)」最大化。

強度 (Intensity) 是成效的關鍵,其測量方式為「功」除以「時間」,也就是「功率 (Power)」。在越短的時間內完成越多的功,或是輸出的功率越高,訓練的強度就越高。透過多變化的訓練模式,結合功能性動作與高強度,將能帶來顯著的體能提升。

當人們聚在一起進行這些訓練時,自然形成的社群 (Community) 是 CrossFit 如此有效的重要關鍵,這也促成了全球超過 13,000 間 CrossFit 註冊場館 (Affiliates) 的誕生。運用運動競賽原本就具備的情誼、競爭與樂趣,能激發出其他方式無法比擬的強度。

CrossFit 是一項以數據為導向 (Data-driven) 的計畫。我們使用白板作為記分板、保存準確的成績紀錄、嚴格執行計時,並精確定義動作標準與規則。這不僅激發了前所未有的運動表現,更讓我們在每次訓練中獲得相對與絕對的指標數據。這些數據的價值遠超乎激勵本身。

總體而言,CrossFit 的目標是鍛造寬廣、全面且包容的強健度 (Fitness),並以可測量、可觀察、可重複的結果作為支持。這套計畫讓訓練者準備好面對各種身體未知的挑戰——不只是針對「未知 (Unknown)」,更是為了「不可知 (Unknowable)」的情況做準備。我們專長,就是不專項化。

雖然 CrossFit 挑戰著世界上體適能最強的人,但這套計畫是為了「普遍的可調整性 (Universal Scalability)」而設計,使其成為任何有決心的人的完美選擇,無論經驗多寡。我們調整的是負荷與強度,而不是改變課表內容。奧運選手與我們祖父母的需求,差別僅在於程度 (Degree),而非本質 (Kind)。

CrossFit is defined as "constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity." All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

The community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together is a key component of why CrossFit is so effective, and it gave birth to a global network of CrossFit affiliates that number over 13,000. Harnessing the natural camaraderie, competition and fun of sport or game yields an intensity that cannot be matched by other means.

The CrossFit program is driven by data. Using whiteboards as scoreboards, keeping accurate scores and records, running a clock, and precisely defining the rules and standards for performance, we not only motivate unprecedented output but derive both relative and absolute metrics at every workout. This data has important value well beyond motivation.

Overall, the aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness supported by measurable, observable and repeatable results. The program prepares trainees for any physical contingency—not only for the unknown but for the unknowable, too. Our specialty is not specializing.

While CrossFit challenges the world's fittest, the program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the program. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.
