Your Journey Starts Here
Whether you've never stepped foot in a gym or you've been training for years, everyone at Hongtai CrossFit started exactly where you are now. Our program is designed to meet you wherever you are and build you up from there — safely, effectively, and with a coach by your side every step of the way.
Getting started at Hongtai is a simple three-step process: try a class, learn the fundamentals, and join the community.
Step 1 — Try a Class
Your first look at CrossFit, with zero commitment.
Our Trial Class is designed for anyone who has never tried CrossFit and wants to experience it before committing. The class follows the same structure as our regular CrossFit sessions — warm-up, skill practice, and a workout — but with extra coaching attention so you feel comfortable throughout.
Schedule:
Monday to Thursday at 8:00 PM
Saturday at 12:00 PM
Can't make those times? Let us know your availability and we'll work something out.
Cost: NT$900
If you sign up for the Foundations Course on the same day, the NT$900 trial fee is waived — it's applied as a discount toward your Foundations Course.
Who it's for: Taiwan residents who are new to CrossFit. If you're visiting from another country, please check our Drop-In page instead.
Step 2 — Learn the Fundamentals
Six private coaching sessions to build your foundation.
Before joining our group classes, every new member completes our Foundations Course — six one-on-one sessions with a certified CrossFit coach. This isn't a test; it's an investment in your safety and long-term success.
What you'll learn:
The nine CrossFit foundational movements, as well as other common skills
Proper form and technique for each movement
How to read the whiteboard, understand the workout, and scale appropriately
How to use all the equipment in the gym safely
What's included:
6 private one-on-one sessions with a certified CrossFit coach (scheduled at times that work for you — must be completed within 45 days)
1 month of group class membership (starts the day after you complete your 6th session — valid for 30 days)
Cost: NT$12,000 (paid in full before the first session)
By the time you finish Foundations, you'll know how to move safely, understand the language of CrossFit, and feel confident walking into any class on our schedule.

What to Expect on Your First Day
Walking into a CrossFit gym for the first time can feel intimidating. Here's exactly what your first visit looks like so there are no surprises.
Before you arrive:
Wear comfortable athletic clothing and flat-soled shoes (running shoes work fine to start)
Bring a water bottle and a small towel
Arrive 10 minutes early so your coach can greet you and show you around
No need to eat a big meal beforehand — a light snack 1-2 hours prior is ideal
How to find us: We're on the 2nd floor of Global Mall at Nangang Station (南港環球購物中心 A1 棟 2 樓). Look for the building with the large Global Mall logo on the exterior. Take the elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor. Detailed directions →
What the class looks like: Every CrossFit class at Hongtai follows this structure:
Whiteboard brief (~5 min) — The coach explains the day's workout, demonstrates movements, and answers questions
Warm-up (~10 min) — Get your body moving and prepare for the day's movements
Skill / Strength (~15 min) — Practice a specific movement or work on building strength
WOD (Workout of the Day) (~10-20 min) — The main workout, performed at your own pace and ability level
Cool-down (~5 min) — Stretch, recover, and chat with your classmates
The most important thing to know: Every single workout is scaled to your ability. If a workout calls for pull-ups and you can't do one yet, your coach will give you a modified version that builds the same muscles. If the weight is too heavy, you go lighter. There is no minimum fitness level required. Our oldest members are past 60 and our youngest are 4. You belong here.
FAQs
Do I need to be fit before I start CrossFit?
1
No. CrossFit is designed to be universally scalable. Every workout is adjusted to your current fitness level by your coach. Many of our most dedicated members started with zero gym experience.
Are classes taught in English or Chinese?
2
Both. Our coaches are bilingual and our community includes both Taiwanese locals and English-speaking expats. You'll feel at home regardless of which language you're more comfortable with.
How often should I train?
Most members train 3-5 days per week. As a beginner, we recommend starting with 3 days per week and increasing as your body adapts. Rest days are an important part of the program.
3
What if I have an injury or physical limitation?
4
Let your coach know before class. Our coaches are trained to modify movements for injuries, mobility restrictions, and other physical considerations. CrossFit can be adapted to almost any situation.
Can I try CrossFit if I'm just visiting Taipei?
5
Yes! Visiting CrossFitters from other boxes are welcome to drop in. Check our Drop-In page for details and pricing.
Global Mall has underground parking, and there are public parking lots nearby. The gym is also directly accessible from Nangang MRT/TRA/HSR Station.
Is there parking?
6
I'm over 60. Is CrossFit right for me?
7
Absolutely. We have members well past 60 who train regularly. We also offer a dedicated Senior Program with classes specifically designed for older adults. The movements are the same functional movements you use in daily life — picking things up, standing from a chair, reaching overhead — just practiced safely with coaching.
